These days, talented people find new, innovative ways to connect with clients and build their careers. A group of entrepreneurial women in Alberta is taking ownership of their services with the co-operative model.
The Blooming Ladies co-operative will provide women entrepreneurs and freelancers with a platform to sell their services to a global market. Originally started as a sole proprietorship by Wunmi Akinlostu, its transformation to a co-op shows the value she and others believe the co-op model can offer.
“We believe very much in the saying, ‘if you want to go fast, go alone, if you want to go far, go together,” said Akinlostu.
Once incorporated, the co-op will provide its members with events and opportunities for networking, professional coaching, and an online platform for courses, community, and a marketplace for women entrepreneurs.
Co-operatives First is thrilled to assist the Blooming Ladies co-operative to define their vision, incorporate as a co-op, and develop their business plan.
